The Mortimer 10km has a new look for 2021, with a new multi terrain course and new organisers. As always though, the race will start & finish on Mortimer Fairground, and we have a canicross entry option for those wishing to run the 10km with their dog(s).

PLEASE NOTE - to safely manage the event in accordance with Covid requirements, there will now be no walking event or 1km fun run.

Our new 10km course takes in the beautiful local woodlands, using footpaths and bridleways. The course is undulating and uneven in places, therefore not suitable for pushchairs/buggies or wheelchairs.

Start Procedure -

You'll be starting in waves every two minutes in order to spread you out and ease navigation in the early stages. Starting waves are not pre-assigned, you'll be starting in groups of 50 as you present yourselves at the start line.

The course -

We have a lovely multi terrain course for you.

You'll start in the Thames side parkland a short walk from the brewery, and take in a narrow footpath that crosses the river within the first 1km.

It's Thames Towpath from 1km until 2.5km, where you'll find a tarmac lane which heads for the hamlet of Boveney and then Dorney Common and the 1st water refill station at 4.5km.

Across the road carefully and go through a few gates and you'll hit the Jubilee River towpath, a wide gravel cycleway until 6.3km.

A footpath takes you to the village of Eton Wick - keep to the pavements through the residential area and look out for traffic. After the 2nd water refill station in Eton Wick at 7km you cross back over the road to reach the Thames Path again at 8km.

From 8km you re-trace your steps from earlier to find the finish back in the park near the river.

50% of your route is on off-road surfaces and you have an elevation gain of 31m throughout. The terrain is firm enough to use road shoes. The ground is uneven on the trail sections, and some portions are narrow.

Water Stations – TWO on the course: 4.5km and 7.0Km and at the start/finish. No cups are provided, carry your own bottle/cup. There will be dog bowls.

Safety -

The course is likely to be uneven underfoot at times, look after yourselves and others. Along the road sections of the course, please keep tight to the left hand or pavements where possible & listen out for marshals instructions. There are a number of gates to negotiate around the course, and there are two cattle grids - you must use the gates to the side of the cattle grids.

You do not have priority on the public paths or on the roads, be courteous and be safe.

Signage -

The course is signed with yellow arrows as well as red and white tape tied to trees/bushes. Each kilometre point will be marked. If you do not see any signage, go back to where you last saw an arrow. Pay attention!

Finish -

As you cross the finish line your result will be live online via the event website.

On finishing, you'll receive your finishers medal, Windsor & Eton 10km cup and drink voucher. Water containers are ready for you to fill your own bottles. Remember – no cups are provided.

From the finish line, it is a short walk to get to the brewery, and you can redeem your voucher; it can be used once, and on event day only. The bar in the brewery will be open as soon as you finish.

Hot & Cold drinks, snacks and hot food are available to purchase from the taproom - there is a full food menu service from 11am onwards.

Massage is available outside the brewery for £10 for 10 mins.

Prizes will be given out at the finish line, with age category prizes being posted out afterwards.
