GETTING TO THE EVENT
We have TWO RACE VENUES - how you plan your day is upto you, but we suggest two options:-
Option 1 - PARK AT RENEGADE BREWERY (the finish)
If you have opted for our pre-event shuttle bus, this leaves from Renegade Brewery at 06:15; it won't wait for you, don't be late!
The car park is open from 05:30, and the buses will arrive at Ramsbury for 07:10 - 07:15.
You'll find the entrance to the Renegade Brewery HERE or via the postcode RG18 0XT.
Event parking is signed once onsite, arrive in good time and our shuttle bus team will look after you.
Cars can be left here all day, so complete your run and your car is there for you.
Option 2 - PARK AT RAMSBURY BREWERY (registration & the start)
This may work better if you have friends/family/supporters with you on race day.
You'll find the car park at Ramsbury Brewery HERE or via the postcode SN8 2NN.
Event parking is open from 06:45. Should runners wish to leave cars here for the day, you must return later on race day to collect.
Race registration, toilets, refreshments, bag drop, nutrition drop and the Start area are all within 200m
Public transport – neither venue is easily accessible via public transport

OPTIONAL PRE-EVENT BUSES
Booking seats on the bus – bus seats are to be booked in advance via the online entry system. You can add a bus seat ticket by clicking on the 'edit entry' link within your entry confirmation email.
The deadline for booking a bus seat ticket is Monday August 31st.
Bus Times - as a reminder, the buses are pre-event and travel from the Renegade Brewery (the finish) to Ramsbury Brewery (the start and race registration).
Bus times will be confirmed within race week for those who have booked seats. The last bus will leave Renegade by 06:15, to arrive at Ramsbury shortly after 07:00.

BEFORE THE START

Registration - open between 07:00 – 08:00 and will be found in the courtyard barn at Ramsbury Brewery.
Collect your race number and pins, also any merchandise you have orderd. Your race number should be visible & pinned on your front.
We'll also be giving you the first of your Tapyard Ultra goodies at registration. A Tapyard Ultra buff which may prove useful on the course.
Start Times – you’ll be setting off in groups between 08:00 & 08:30. Final start times will be confirmed on September 2nd. Approach the start area 5 mins before your start time and our start line team will call you forward. Please stick to the time as you are listed.
Chip Timing – your timing chip is on the back of your race number, so your own start & finish times are taken along with a split time from the course.
Personal Nutrition Drop – if you have any dietary preferences or just want to use the nutrition you’ve trained with, we will take it out onto the course for you. Bag the items up at home, label them with your race number and checkpoint locations and place them in the boxes at race registration. Personal nutrition must be dropped off by 08.00. Note – this is available for Checkpoints 3 & 4 only.
Bag Drop – bags should be of sensible size (if you need masses of kit taking back to Renegade, just leave it in your car at Renegade if you've parked there) and labelled. Your race number has a tear off strip which is your baggage tag. Bags must be in the baggage van by 08:00, and they'll be taken to the finish for you.
Facilities – toilets at Ramsbury are found in the barn next to race registration, and teas/coffees are available.
General Rule – arrive as ready to go as you can be, kit checked, GPS & phone charged!
ON THE COURSE
Race Briefing – important details and final reminders will be in the briefing. This will not be presented on the start line, but online in advance, on the website and emailed to you on September 2nd.
It is assumed that you will have read the race briefing – if you have any questions, you need to contact the organisers before the end of Weds September 2nd, you may not get a reply after that as we'll be setting up the course.
Terrain - The course is mixed terrain and on firm ground throughout. We use towpaths, footpaths, woodland trails and road. The ground is firm throughout & suitable for road shoes. Approx 70% is off road.
Hilly/Flat? The course is undulating in the first 10km, then flat (actually slightly downhill) until 37km, and then undulating to the finish. There is a nett elevation loss, but 314m of climbing throughout.
Signage – the course is fully signed with arrows at decision points, and red & white tape.
Additional Navigation - We will provide you with a course GPX file for use on GPS devices. Also, a Google MyMap version of the course which can be viewed on a phone and is marked with checkpoint locations, toilets etc. There is a QR Code linking to the Google Map on your race number.
Headphones – we politely request that you do not use in-ear headphones for your own safety. It's your responsibility to ensure that you can hear those around you, cars, cyclists etc and marshal instructions.
Course Etiquette – please be courteous to other path users. The course is 100% open to the public. Short sections are narrow, please be patient and overtake when safe.
Mandatory Kit –
•Fully charged mobile phone with emergency numbers included (to be found on your race number)
•Drinks Vessel (bottle/hydration pack etc) holding a minimum of 500ml at the start (please bring ready-filled)
•Foil Blanket
Recommended Kit -
•Waterproof/Showerproof jacket
•Method of payment, in case of emergencies
We appreciate that the need for some items may seem unlikely, however we have to plan for your safety in an emergency.
Medical Back-up – there is dedicated medical provision throughout the event. Due to the nature of the course, our medics may take some time to reach you. In a life threatening emergency, you should contact emergency services via 999.
COURSE IN DETAIL
Profile – the first portion of the course is undulating on trail until the first Checkpoint in Froxfield, where you join the Kennet & Avon Canal.
You remain on the canal towpath from 11km, through Checkpoints 2 & 3, until approx 36km at Thatcham. It's flat throughout this part of the course, gradually downhill in fact.
From Thatcham it's uphill to Checkpoint 4 in Upper Bucklebury at 39km. Some pleasant woodland km's take you to 45km where the course is up & down all of the way to finish at Renegade Brewery.
There are toilets around the route, either directly at the checkpoints or near them, and at sporadic points around the course.
The course is provisional until confirmed in race week, any changes are likely to be very slight.
Checkpoint 1 – 10.8km
Cut off time – 10:15 (2 hours 15 mins from 08:00 START)
Checkpoint 2 – 20.0km

Checkpoint 4 – 39.4km
Cut off time – 15:25 (7 hours 25 mins from 08:00 START)
FINISH – 50.6KM

SPECTATOR INFO
The Tapyard Ultra 50km course is great for spectators as it offers plenty of locations to support. The two event venues are within approx a 40 min drive of eachother.
We would request that spectators don’t visit checkpoint locations directly as they may become congested and prevent access to our event medics. Essentially, support anywhere you like along the 50km route, apart from at the checkpoints!
We suggest visiting accessible locations such as Hungerford, Newbury, Thatcham & Upper Bucklebury. Have a look over the route and plan your day.
CHECKPOINTS

There are four checkpoints around the course, you’ll find them at 10.8km, 20km, 29km & 39km. It is compulsory for you to cross the timing mats, even if you don’t need anything to eat or drink.
What's to Eat? Each checkpoint will stock a selection of snack items including bananas, biscuits, sweets, crisps, chocolate bars, savoury snacks and water to replenish your bottles with, along with cola, squash and Hi5 energy drink or Active Root.
No Cups – we will be not be providing plastic cups at the checkpoints. You will need to carry your own drinks vessels, hydration packs etc from the start of the race.
Personal Nutrition – available for checkpoints 3 & 4 only. Put your nutrition into sealed & labelled bags – mark with your race number and which Checkpoint they should go to on each bag. Drop at registration before 8.00 and nutrition will be taken out to checkpoints on the course for you.
Checkpoint Guidance –
-
A tail-end runner will advise any participants if they are behind the cut off times; you are required to be self-sufficient if you have to retire from the event.
-
Retiring is non-negotiable if you fall behind the cut-off times around the route. It won't always be your day, we all experience that as runners - if you need to retire, we'll automatically provide you with a 50% off voucher for next year.
-
Cross the timing mats on the floor
-
We are unable to return any personal items left at checkpoints
-
Supporters should not come to the checkpoints, access is limited and required by the event team and medical staff
AT THE FINISH
Your finish line this year is at the Renegade Brewery, just yards from the taproom bar. Back at the brewery, you’ll see our big red Racing Line Running gantry. Cross the line and your result is automatically recorded.
You can then pick up your finishers medal and Tapyard Ultra pint cup, free drink voucher, and some food & drink.
The Renegade taproom bar will be open all day, offering a full dining menu. We'll have a pop-up bar & shop from Ramsbury Brewery too.
Baggage Collection - bags left at bag drop prior to the start at Ramsbury will be found at the finish line.
Drink Voucher - take your drink voucher to the Renegade taproom bar or Ramsbury pop-up bar (the choice is yours!) and the team will fill up your pint cup with the drink of your choice.
Any subsequent drinks/food or refreshments for supporters are to be purchased.
