The Mortimer 10km has a new look for 2021, with a new multi terrain course and new organisers. As always though, the race will start & finish on Mortimer Fairground, and we have a canicross entry option for those wishing to run the 10km with their dog(s).
PLEASE NOTE - to safely manage the event in accordance with Covid requirements, there will now be no walking event or 1km fun run.
Our new 10km course takes in the beautiful local woodlands, using footpaths and bridleways. The course is undulating and uneven in places, therefore not suitable for pushchairs/buggies or wheelchairs.

Registration - open between 08:30 & 09:45 and will be found in between the car park and the brewery.
Collect your race number and pins. Your race number should be visible & pinned on your front.

Start Time – the Canicross 10km will start at 09:55, with the 10km starting at 10:00. You will called to the start area 5 minutes before your start time.

Chip Timing – your timing chip is on the back of your race number, so your own start & finish times are taken.

Baggage – leave your bag in the car if you can. We will store bags at the finish line for those who have cycled.

Toilets – these are found 150m from race registration, near the start area. There are also toilets inside the brewery.
ON THE COURSE
Race Briefing – further details about the course and final reminders will be in the briefing. This will be online only and found from September 17th.

Terrain - The course is mixed terrain and on firm ground. We take in bridleways, farm tracks, and footpaths, private fields and local road. The ground is firm & suitable for road shoes currently, but as a mixed trail course, this is weather dependent!

99% of the course is off-road, it is uneven and narrow in places.

The course starts & finishes on the farm track 100m from the brewery.

Hilly/Flat? The route includes 137m of elevation gain throughout the 10km – it does of course also lose 137m as well!

Canicross 10km – will complete the same route as the 10km event. Canicross competitors must keep their dogs on a harness throughout and can run with multiple dogs should they wish. However, prizes will only be awarded amongst those running with one dog.
Signage – the course is well signed with yellow arrows, red & white tape and KM markers. As a trail race, there will not be a marshal at every turn, look out for the signage and follow the arrows.

Headphones – we politely request that you do not use in-ear headphones for your own safety.

Water Refill Stations – ONE on course at 5.8km, ONE at the start/finish. These are self service and you will need to carry your own drinks vessel with you – no cups are provided. There will be dog bowls.

Etiquette – there are some single file sections on the course, and the route is open to the general public, potentially cyclists and horse riders - please be courteous and allow people appropriate space. You may be in a race, but you don't have priority over others. The road section is open to traffic.

COURSE IN DETAIL
We have a lovely multi terrain 10km course for you to enjoy, and virtually every step is away from roads. The course features farm tracks, woodlands, bridleways, footpaths and fields.

You'll start on the farm track a short distance from the brewery for the first 1km, before an initial 2km loop sees heading back towards Woodoaks Farm. Taking a track over the motorway you're soon into the countryside again with views of fields and woodlands for miles ahead.

A section of single track path between 4km & 5km takes you The Swillett, and the only brief road section on the course. At 5.8km you'll find our water refill station, from here you descend on a woodland trail offering shade in the valley, before climbing again and cutting through farmland to reach 8km.

From 8km you descend through the ancient woodland of Bottom Wood and climb across open fields to cross the motorway again at 9km. The final KM uses gravel tracks to take you back to the finish at Woodoaks Farm.

99% of your route is off-road and you have an elevation gain of 137m throughout. Currently the terrain is firm enough to use road shoes, but keep an eye on the weather as we approach race day. The ground is uneven on the trail sections, and some portions are narrow.

SPECTATOR INFO
As a trail running event, access to portions of the running route is limited, but there are two walkable locations from the start/finish area that spectators could reach and then have time to return to the finish line.

The 0.8km point is also the 2.8km point, with the runners completing a 2km loop in between. Spectators would be walking along the route to reach this point - so must set off well ahead of the start, or after the start, in order to not block the running route.

Also, the runners cross the motorway via a bridge at 3.7km, the return over this bridge at 9km. Check the map for details.
AT THE FINISH
Back at the finish line 150m from the brewery you’ll see our big red Racing Line Running gantry. Cross the line and your result is automatically recorded.

You'll pick up your finishers medal, Creative Juices 10km pint cup, and your drink voucher; make sure that you don't lose yours - we don't give them out twice!!
There will be water in containers for you to refill your own bottles or cups with too.

Results & Prizes – ‘live’ results will be available online courtesy of our timers, the awesome Timing Monkey.

Overall prizes will be issued at the finish line with Age Category prizes being posted out in the days after the race.
ANYTHING ELSE?
Marshals – thank you so much to our awesome event volunteers, we couldn’t do it without you.
If you would like to marshal at any future Racing Line Running events, please get in touch via andy@racinglinerunning.co.uk

Drink Voucher - at the finish line you'll be given your free drink voucher. This is for one free drink and to be used on race day only.

You can redeem your voucher for any pint of draught beer, a can of beer to takeaway or for a soft drink. Vouchers can be redeemed in the brewery bar or at the outside bar in the hop garden.

Refreshments – our fabulous catering team will be ready to serve from 08:30, with a whole host of hot food options, snacks, and hot & cold drinks too.

The team from the Tea Shack cafe will be open for business from 09:00.

Massage – Muscle & Mind will be on hand to ease those aching muscles both pre and post event. A 10 minute massage is available for just £10 – cash payment available but contactless payment preferred.
