The Mortimer 10km has a new look for 2021, with a new multi terrain course and new organisers. As always though, the race will start & finish on Mortimer Fairground, and we have a canicross entry option for those wishing to run the 10km with their dog(s).

PLEASE NOTE - to safely manage the event in accordance with Covid requirements, there will now be no walking event or 1km fun run.

Our new 10km course takes in the beautiful local woodlands, using footpaths and bridleways. The course is undulating and uneven in places, therefore not suitable for pushchairs/buggies or wheelchairs.

Water Refill Station – ONE on the course at 5.8km and at the start/finish. NO CUPS ARE PROVIDED, carry your own bottle/cup. There will be dog bowls.

Safety -

The course is likely to be uneven underfoot at times, look after yourselves and others. The course -

We have a lovely trail 10km course for you. It features wide farm tracks, bridleways, footpaths and woodland trails, and a very short section of road.

You'll start on a track leaving the farm for the first 800m before completing a 2km loop of some fields. You'll retrace your steps here briefly before crossing the M25 and picking some rural paths.

From 4km you'll take a scenic single track footpath with fields all around through the halfway mark to a section of road at 5.4km. From the water refill station at 5.8km you'll find a long sweeping descent on a woodland trail.

From 7km you climb before negotiating a few gates, following public paths across fields to reach woodland again at 8km. A drop downhill is followed by a hill across fields to 9km where you rejoin your route from earlier. Back over the M25 and you're just a couple of turns away from your finish next the Black Barn.

99% of your route is off-road and you have an elevation gain of 136m throughout. Currently the terrain is firm enough to use road shoes, although the course is suitable for any shoe. The ground is uneven on the trail sections, and some portions are narrow.
