The Mortimer 10km has a new look for 2021, with a new multi terrain course and new organisers. As always though, the race will start & finish on Mortimer Fairground, and we have a canicross entry option for those wishing to run the 10km with their dog(s).

PLEASE NOTE - to safely manage the event in accordance with Covid requirements, there will now be no walking event or 1km fun run.

Our new 10km course takes in the beautiful local woodlands, using footpaths and bridleways. The course is undulating and uneven in places, therefore not suitable for pushchairs/buggies or wheelchairs.

The course -

We have a beautiful 10km route for you and around 75-80% is off road. It is suitable for either road or off-road shoes.

We start on a grass track opposite the brewery before reaching road after 600m. You'll continue along a country lane until 1.5km before picking up a woodland track with a gentle downhill to 4km.

At 4.5km you'll see the famous Cobstone Mill - don't worry, you're not running up to that today! However, you turn left and head uphill towards Turville Court.

Following the on course water refill station at 6km, you'll use a woodland trail, some road and tracks to reach the 9km mark. From here, retrace the first KM back to the finish.

Parts of the course are a little uneven underfoot and there are tree roots throughout the woodland areas. The ground is very firm.

There are a couple of stretches along local roads – keep left unless told otherwise and listen for marshals instructions. You do not have priority over cars, stop if you have to.

Water refill station -

There is one water refill station on the course, at 6km. This is self service – a reminder again – there are no cups provided. You should plan to carry your own fluid around the course if you feel you're likely to need it; use the refill station as a top up.

Safety -

The course is likely to be uneven underfoot at times, look after yourselves and others. Along the road sections of the course, please keep tight to the left hand side at all points & listen out for marshals instructions. You do not have priority on the public paths or on the roads, be courteous and be safe.

Signage -

The course is signed with yellow arrows as well as red and white tape tied to trees/bushes. Each kilometre point will be marked. If you do not see any signage, go back to where you last saw an arrow. Pay attention!

Finish -

As you cross the finish line your result will be live online via the event website.

On finishing, you'll receive your finishers medal, Chiltern Valley 10km cup and drink voucher. Water containers are ready for you to fill your own bottles. Remember – no cups are provided.

Cross the road from the finish line to get to the brewery, and you can redeem your voucher; it can be used once, and on event day only.

Hot & Cold drinks are available to buy, along with hot food and some snacks.

Massage is available in the barn for £15 for 15 mins.

Prizes will be given out at the finish line, with age category prizes being posted out afterwards.
