The Mortimer 10km has a new look for 2021, with a new multi terrain course and new organisers. As always though, the race will start & finish on Mortimer Fairground, and we have a canicross entry option for those wishing to run the 10km with their dog(s).

PLEASE NOTE - to safely manage the event in accordance with Covid requirements, there will now be no walking event or 1km fun run.

Our new 10km course takes in the beautiful local woodlands, using footpaths and bridleways. The course is undulating and uneven in places, therefore not suitable for pushchairs/buggies or wheelchairs.

The course -

We have a lovely TWO LAP 10km course for you, genuinely multi terrain featuring some private gravel road, grassy tracks and woodland trails.

Starting in the field outside the brewery, you'll begin on grass until the 1km mark, where you'll pick up a wide gravel road.

Following the edge of farmland to 2km as you reach an enormous camping field; this will be slightly quieter than British Grand Prix week, when it hosts many thousands of motor racing fans.

The flat course continues on gravel, then a wide grass trail takes you into woodland at 3.5km, then a long Formula 1 style finishing straight all of the way to the end of lap point at 5km.

At 5km and the water refill station, turn right to commence lap 2, and you'll return here at 9.9km with the finish in sight.

Currently, road or off-road shoes will be fine.

Water refill station -

There is one water refill station on the course, at 5km. This is self service – a reminder again – there are no cups provided. You should plan to carry your own fluid around the course if you feel you're likely to need it; use the refill station as a top up.

Safety -

The course is likely to be uneven underfoot at times, look after yourselves and others. Your route is away from public roads, but does use farm tracks & it would be sensible to be mindful of vehicles. Please keep left hand if a marshal instructs you do to so. If you find yourself injured, or come across an injured runner, you have the event medics phone number on the front of your race number.

Signage -

The course is signed with yellow arrows as well as red and white tape tied to trees/bushes. Each kilometre point will be marked. If you do not see any signage, go back to where you last saw an arrow. Pay attention!

Finish -

As you cross the finish line your result will be live online via the event website.

On finishing, you'll receive your finishers medal and drink voucher. Water containers are ready for you to fill your own bottles. Remember – no cups are provided.

Less than 50m from the finish line is the brewery, and you can redeem your voucher; it can be used once, and on event day only.

The brewery will have two bars open, one in the taproom and another in the internal courtyard. When you reach the bar to redeem your voucher, the team there will have your Blackpit 10km pint cup ready to fill for you.

The Blackpit Cafe is open from 08:00 onwards, Hot & Cold drinks are available to buy, along with hot food and snacks from their menu.

Prizes will be given out at the finish line, with age category prizes being posted out afterwards.

Thank You -

Firstly, thank you to Blackpit Brewery & Blackpit Farm for hosting us. Thank you to our race timer, Rogue Racer, our medics from Beyond First Aid, Blackpit Cafe, and our sponsors Stillman Insurance.

Most of all though, and please show your appreciation when you see them, thank you to our race day volunteers and our race photographers.
