EVENT FULL - ALL ENTRIES NOW CLOSED & WE ARE NO LONGER ADDING TO OUR WAITING LIST.

The Mortimer 10km has a new look for 2021, with a new multi terrain course and new organisers. As always though, the race will start & finish on Mortimer Fairground, and we have a canicross entry option for those wishing to run the 10km with their dog(s).

PLEASE NOTE - to safely manage the event in accordance with Covid requirements, there will now be no walking event or 1km fun run.

Our new 10km course takes in the beautiful local woodlands, using footpaths and bridleways. The course is undulating and uneven in places, therefore not suitable for pushchairs/buggies or wheelchairs.

BEFORE THE START

Race Number

Registration - open between 17:15 & 18:20 and will be found at the bandstand.

Queue for your number according to your surname - Collect some pins too. Your race number should be visible & pinned on your front. There is no need to complete the form on the reverse of your race number.

Your race number has a tear-off strip at the bottom - this is your voucher for a free drink, don't lose it!

Start Time – both events start together at 18:30. Your start line is approx 200m away from the bandstand, be ready to move to the start area from 18:25.

Chip Timing – your timing chip is on the reverse of your race number, so your own start & finish times are taken when you cross the line.

Baggage – there is a bag drop at race registration.

Toilets – public toilets are available less then 100m away from the race registration.

ON THE COURSE

Race Briefing – further details about the course and final reminders will be in the briefing. This will be online only and found from July 27th.

Terrain - The course is flat and on tarmac throughout.

Signage – the course is well signed with yellow arrows, red & white tape and KM markers.

Headphones – we politely request that you do not use in-ear or over-ear headphones for your own safety. The responsibility is with you to ensure that you can hear marshals instructions and be aware of others around you.

Etiquette – the route is open to the general public - this could be walkers or cyclists etc; please be courteous . You may be in a race, but you don't have priority over others. Your course uses a clockwise lap, KEEP RIGHT AT ALL TIMES.

Water Refill Stations – ONE at the end of each 2.5km lap, and ONE at the finish. These are self service and you will need to bring your own drinks vessel with you – no cups are provided.

Our suggestion is that you carry water with you and use the refill station to top up bottles etc should you need to.

COURSE IN DETAIL

We are known for our rural trail runs, filthy mud and endless hills.........here, you'll find none of those things!

Each lap is 2.5km, or in actual fact, a short amount under 2.5km. With this, your start line is approx 150m away from the bandstand and registration.

Aside from the start, the beginning and end of each lap will be adjacent to the bandstand.

So, for 5km runners it's a TWO LAP run. At the end of your 2nd lap head for the finish in front of the bandstand.

For 10km runners it's a FOUR LAP run. Only at the end of your 4th lap do you take the start of the finish shoot.

Listen out for marshals instructions and remember that it's upto you to count your own laps.

You will only be taking right hand turns on the course, so keep to the right hand side whilst running - make that you look out for non-event runners, walkers, cyclists etc as the park is open to the public throughout.

You'll pick up your finishers medal, Battersea Brewery 5km & 10km pint cup. Your drink voucher is attached to your race number. Make sure that you don't lose your voucher - we don't give out a second one!!

There will be water in containers for you to refill your own bottles or cups with too.

Results & Prizes – ‘live’ results will be available online courtesy of our timers, the awesome Timing Monkey.

Overall prizes will be issued at the finish line with Age Category prizes being posted out in the days after the race.
